Christian Vows

As God's chosen one, holy and dearly loved, I promise to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. I vow to bear with you and forgive you, just as the Lord forgave us. And over all these virtues, I put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

"You are far more precious than jewels." I promise to trust you with my heart, to do you good and not harm all the days of my life, and to honor the wisdom and kindness in your spirit.

"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Today, I vow to let the Holy Spirit lead our marriage. I promise to love you with a Christ-like devotion, to serve you with a humble heart, and to walk beside you on level ground and through the valleys.

"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." (Ruth 1:16). I take you to be my wedded spouse, promising to walk this path of faith with you, hand in hand, until the Lord calls me home.

"Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death." I promise that my love for you will be a fire that no water can quench.

As Ecclesiastes says, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken. I promise to keep God at the center of our marriage, weaving His love into ours.
