Formal Vows

I take you for my lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do us part.

(Name), have you come here to enter into Marriage without coercion, freely and wholeheartedly? Are you prepared, as you follow the path of Marriage, to love and honor each other for as long as you both shall live?

Before these witnesses, I take you as my beloved spouse. I promise to honor you, comfort you, and remain faithful to you in times of plenty and in times of need. With all that I am and all that I have, I join my life to yours from this day forward.

I call upon these persons here present to witness that I take you to be my lawful wedded spouse. I promise to share your life, to offer you mutual comfort and support, and to build a home filled with peace and understanding, from this day until my last.

I promise to cherish you in health and in hardship, to speak with truth and kindness, and to keep faith with you through all the changing seasons of our life. I will receive your joys as my own, bear your sorrows with compassion, and remain your faithful companion. Freely and solemnly, I join my future to yours.
