Humility Vows

I promise to walk with you in all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with you in love. I vow to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, and to love you as Christ loved the church.

Following Christ, I promise to choose gentle courage over the need to be right. I will speak truth without contempt, listen before I defend myself, and ask forgiveness without making excuses. I promise to pray for wisdom when we disagree, to protect your dignity in every room, and to serve without keeping a record of who has done more. In celebration and in strain, I will trust God's grace to soften what pride makes hard and to lead us back to love.

When our words run out, I promise to meet you first with prayer. I will listen before I assume, speak truth without cruelty, and ask God to make my heart teachable when fear makes me defensive. I will forgive as I am forgiven, serve you without keeping score, and seek wise help when we cannot find a way forward alone. In laughter, uncertainty, and every ordinary responsibility, I will trust Christ to keep drawing us toward humility, hope, and a love that bears good fruit.
